These are the latest frequently asked questions for Explorer24. Additional questions and answers will be added here as more event information is confirmed or common questions are asked. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please contact the organisers using this form.

How do I book?

Bookings must be made by Explorer Leaders for their Unit using the online booking system. Explorers should not book their own tickets.

To book places for your Unit and pay the deposit, please use this link to a site called Square. Once you have signed up, Explorer24 will send you an email to the booking system in the coming weeks.

Do I need to know who is attending when I book the tickets?

No – the Explorer Leader will need to book a set number of spaces for their Unit. Personal details of attendees will be collected at a later date.

What is the booking period?

Bookings open on 13 July 2026 and close on 13 September 2026. If the event sells out before this, then the bookings will close at that point.

How can I manage my Unit’s bookings?

Explorer24 will send you an email to the booking system in the coming weeks. Explorer Leaders can manage their booking through this system, allowing them to:

  • Paying the remaining balance of £40 per Explorer for the event
  • Adding Explorers’ personal details and contact details
  • Explorers will be asked to complete more of their details, including medical information, contact details, dietary requirements and activity permission forms
  • Amending places for the Unit
When will you collect personal details of Explorers for the event?

We’ll collect personal details for Explorers between 1 August – 30 September 2026. Explorers will be asked to complete more of their details, including medical information, contact details, dietary requirements and activity permission forms.

I’m a Leader or Volunteer, how do I book?

Volunteers and Leaders should use this link to book your attendance. The booking system for this event is called Peak. When you click the registration link, you will be prompted to create a new account. As part of the registration process, you will need to enter some personal details, set a password, and register for two-factor authentication. As you register, you will receive an email containing a verification link to confirm your email address. Please check your spam or junk folder if you do not see this email in your inbox.

Once your account has been successfully created and verified, you will be able to complete some additional questions. These include details such as any relevant skills or permits you hold, your availability, and whether you will be attending with an Explorer Unit.

What is the cost of the event for Explorers?

The cost of the event is £60 per Explorer, including a £20 non-refundable deposit required at the time of booking. This fee includes:

  • Access to all activities across the full event 
  • All meals (Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner, Sunday breakfast) and snacks 
  • Event badge 
  • Campsite fees 
Is the deposit refundable?

No – the £20 deposit is non-refundable and is required at the time of booking to secure places.

When is the final payment due?

The remaining balance of £40 per Explorer must be paid by 30 September 2026. This will be paid through the booking system.

What happens if there are behaviour issues during the camp? 

Any breach of the event Code of Conduct will be reviewed by members of the event team and handled in line with the agreed process.

What happens in bad weather? 

The event will go ahead in most weather conditions, but the organising team may adapt activities or arrangements if needed to keep everyone safe.

Can Explorers attend without their Leader? 

Yes – if no Leaders from a Unit can attend, places should still be booked as normal. 

Do Leaders and Volunteers require a DBS check?

Yes – All Leaders and Volunteers must have a valid, up-to-date DBS check at the time of the event.

Is there a minimum or maximum number of participants? 

There is a minimum number of places which will need to be sold to make the event viable. The event has a maximum capacity of 250 participants. Updates will be shared through usual event communications if spaces begin to fill or additional places become available.

Can Explorers, Leaders and Volunteers drive themselves and park at the campsite? 

Leaders and Volunteers can drive themselves and park at the campsite. Explorers should be dropped off as they cannot leave cars on site due to limited parking. Please consider car sharing where possible to reduce the number of vehicles on site and help make drop-off and pick-up easier. 

Will there be minibus parking? 

Yes – minibus parking will be available. 

What happens if an Explorer arrives after check in on Friday or needs to leave early? 

Please let the organising team know in advance if you expect to arrive late or need to leave early, so suitable arrangements can be made and arrival/collection can be managed safely. Before entering or leaving the site, please make sure you check in or out. 

Will photographs and videos be taken? 

Yes – a Media Team will be at the event taking photographs and videos. Please let the organisers know in advance if anyone should not be included. This can be added during the personal details phase of the booking process. 

Do Explorers need to bring food?

No – all meals, drinks and snacks are provided throughout the event.

What meals will be provided?

Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday breakfast. Snacks will also be available.

What times will I eat?

Meal times will be confirmed closer to the event. To help reduce queues, meals will be served in staggered sittings. If you’re arriving later on Friday, food will be available for you once you arrive on site.

How do I tell you about dietary requirements or medical needs?

Dietary requirements, allergies, medical details and any other important information should be provided during the personal details stage of the booking process. This will be completed by Explorer Leaders.

Do Explorers need to bring spending money?

No – Explorers don’t need money for the event, as activities, food and event costs are included in the event fee.

Can food deliveries be brought onto the site?

Food deliveries are not permitted on site. All meals and snacks will be provided as part of the event, so if you are hungry, just ask. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and safeguarding of all participants. Any delivery attempts to the site will be refused entry.

Can Explorers bring mobile phones? 

Yes – Explorers can bring mobile phones, but devices are brought at their own risk. The organisers accept no responsibility for lost or damaged devices.

Will there be charging facilities or Wi-Fi? 

There will be no charging facilities or Wi‑Fi available.

Will Explorers, Leaders and Volunteers need to wear a wristband?

Yes – all attendees must wear their wristband throughout the event, as it will be used as an identifier for everyone.

What toilet facilities will be available at the campsite? 

The campsite will have male, female, accessible, gender-neutral and adult toilet facilities available.

As an Explorer Leader, why do I need to run activities? 

Explorer24 relies on attending Leaders to help deliver activities and support the event. This allows us to offer a wide range of activities and keep the event running smoothly and safely. 

Can other Volunteers attend?

Yes – Volunteers are welcome and play an important role in running the event. 

Who submits the Nights Away Notification (NAN) for this camp? 

The Event Leaders will complete and submit the NAN form for all attendees, so Explorer Leaders do not need to submit their own NAN form or event passport. 

I’m an Explorer, can I have a say in the event?

Yes – we want Explorers to help shape the event where possible. This includes having a say on the activities and menu for the event. Please see the form below to add your ideas:

What will the programme be?

At the event, you will receive a booklet with full details of the activities, including times and locations. To see the latest list of activities, check here.

Will there be activities on the Friday night?

Yes – there will be some activities on Friday night. More details will be shared later.

How will first aid work? 

A team of experienced Volunteers will provide first aid cover throughout the event, including mental health and wellbeing support.

What should I do with my medication? 

All medication must be handed in to an Event Leader when checking in at camp. It should be clearly labelled with the Explorer’s name, dosage, and any relevant instructions. If an Explorer requires an EpiPen or inhaler, they should bring two: one to hand in and one to keep with them.

When will risk assessments be published? 

We’ll share risk assessments and any other key safety information with Leaders and Volunteers closer to the event, once activities and site arrangements are confirmed. These will be published on the website. 

How will you support Explorers, Leaders or Volunteers requiring reasonable adjustments? 

Explorer24 aims to be as inclusive and accessible as possible. Please share reasonable adjustments needed during booking so the organising team can review them and work with Leaders and Volunteers to put suitable support in place. 

Where will we camp? 

You will be assigned a camping area as an Explorer Unit, which may be shared with other Units. 

Do Explorers need to bring a tent or hammock, or are they expected to stay awake for the full 24 hours? 

Explorers should bring a tent or hammock, so they have somewhere to sleep on Friday night and during the 24-hour challenge if needed.

Are we allowed fires on our campsite? 

Fires are not permitted on campsites. There will be a campfire during the event.
