To celebrate 110 years of Cubs in Scouting, West Sussex Scouts are bringing together Cubs from across the County for an exciting day at Lodge Hill on Saturday, 12 September.
This action-packed event promises a full day of adventure, with a wide range of activities designed to challenge, inspire and entertain. Cubs can expect a programme that includes plenty of opportunities to try something new and make lasting memories with others from across West Sussex.

Cost and what’s included?
The cost of the event is £30 per Cub. Tickets are only required for Cubs; please do not purchase tickets for leaders or young leaders.

What to bring
Cubs should bring the following. Where possible, please name all items:
- Group scarf/necker
- Wearing an activity/Cub top
- Packed lunch
- Sensible clothing and footwear for the weather
- Refillable water bottle
- Personal medication (if required)
Participant limits
The maximum capacity for this event is 400 Cubs. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so early booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment. All tickets are non-refundable.
To ensure as many Cubs as possible across the County can attend, please only book places for Cubs who can attend.
Ready to take part?
All bookings should be made through the online booking system. Bookings should be made by one Leader per Cub Pack. When purchasing tickets, please enter the name of the leader in charge of the Pack attending. Additional leaders and young leaders attending the event should be included in the additional leaders field. Please include their name and membership number, where applicable.
Spaces are limited, so booking early is the best way to secure your Pack’s place and be part of the biggest Cub event in West Sussex. Don’t miss out on a day packed with activities, challenges and adventure.

How do I book?
Cub Leaders must make bookings for their Pack using the online booking system. Bookings should be made by one Leader per Cub Pack.
Do I need to know who is attending when I book the tickets?
Yes – so you can book the correct number of tickets.
What happens in bad weather?
The event will go ahead in most weather conditions, but the organising team may adapt activities or arrangements if needed to keep everyone safe.
Is there a minimum or maximum number of participants?
There is a minimum number of places which will need to be sold to make the event viable. The event has a maximum capacity of 400 participants. Updates will be shared through usual event communications if spaces begin to fill or additional places become available.
When do bookings close?
There is currently no close date for bookings. Bookings will stay open until the allocated tickets have been sold, rather than there being a set cut off date.
What Cub to Leader ratios do we need?
Follow the normal Cub to Leader ratio for outdoor activities of 1 Leader to 8 Cubs, plus the Leader in charge, with a minimum of 2 Leaders.
Do Leaders and Volunteers require a DBS check?
Yes – All Leaders and Volunteers must have a valid, up-to-date DBS check at the time of the event.
Will there be minibus parking?
Yes – minibus parking will be available.
Will photographs and videos be taken?
Yes – a Media Team will be at the event taking photographs and videos. Please let the organisers know on the day if anyone should not be included.
Do Cubs and Leaders need to bring a packed lunch?
Yes – Cubs and Leaders need to bring a packed lunch. There are water taps to fill up bottles throughout the day.
Do Cubs need to bring spending money?
No – Cubs don’t need money for the event, as activities and event costs are included in the event fee.
Can Leaders bring mobile phones?
Yes – Leaders can bring mobile phones, but devices are brought at their own risk. The organisers accept no responsibility for lost or damaged devices.
Will there be charging facilities or Wi-Fi?
There will be no charging facilities or Wi‑Fi available.
Will Cubs, Leaders and Volunteers need to wear a wristband?
Yes – all attendees will wear their wristband throughout the event. These will be used to indicate which activity zone you will be in. These will be collected when you check in at the event.
What toilet facilities will be available?
The site will have male, female, accessible and adult toilet facilities available.
How will first aid work?
A team of experienced Volunteers will provide first aid cover throughout the event.
What should I do with my medication?
Cub Leaders are responsible for the safe storage and issuing of medication to any Cubs attending from their Pack.
When will risk assessments be published?
We’ll share risk assessments and any other key safety information with Leaders and Volunteers closer to the event, once activities and site arrangements are confirmed. These will be published on the website.
How will we support Cubs and Volunteers who require reasonable adjustments?
Go Cubs aims to be as inclusive and accessible as possible. Please share reasonable adjustments needed during booking so the organising team can review them and work with Leaders and Volunteers to put suitable support in place.
