Cost and what’s included? 

Explorers getting involved in the event

We’re keen for Explorers to help shape the event wherever possible. This includes having a say in the activities and the menu. Please use the form below to share ideas and suggestions:

Here are some of the activities planned for Explorer24. This is not the final programme, and we’ll continue to shape activities based on Explorer feedback:

Code of conduct 

By signing up, Explorers, Leaders and Volunteers agree to the event Code of Conduct. If any breaches occur, the event organisers will follow the processes outlined within it. 

Important dates 

• Booking window and pay deposits: 13 July – 13 September 2026 
• Collect personal details and make final payments: 1 August – 30 September 2026 
• Leader and Volunteer briefing: 2 October 2026 at 19:30 
• Event date: 16 – 18 October 2026 

Explorer Leaders and adult Volunteers at the event 

Explorer Leaders and Volunteers can attend the event free of charge. Given the nature of Explorer24, Leaders who attend will be expected to volunteer and help run activities during the 24-hour challenge. This helps us provide a wide range of activities and ensure the event runs smoothly. When signing up, Leaders and Volunteers can share any relevant skills or permits they have, so you can have input into the activities you’ll run. To book your place as an Explorer leader at the event, please use the Volunteer sign-up.

Explorers not attending with Leaders 

If Explorer Leaders from your Unit are unavailable, Explorers can still attend. Book places as normal and let us know during booking that no Unit Leaders are attending. Where possible, we will pair your Explorers with others from your district when camping.

Leaders and Volunteers should use the link below to register for the event:

The booking system for this event is called Peak. When you click the registration link, you will be prompted to create a new account. As part of the registration process, you will enter some personal details, set a password, and register for two-factor authentication. As you register, you will receive an email containing a verification link to confirm your email address. Please check your spam or junk folder if you do not see this email in your inbox.

Once your account has been successfully created and verified, you can complete additional questions. These include details such as any relevant skills or permits you hold, your availability, and whether you will be attending with an Explorer Unit.

Leader and Volunteer briefing 

An online Leader and Volunteer briefing will be held on Friday 2 October at 19:30. This session will cover final event details and provide an opportunity to ask questions.

Participant limits 

The maximum capacity for this event is 250 participants. To ensure as many Explorers as possible across the county can attend, please only book places for Explorers who are able to attend. If Explorers can no longer attend, places can be reallocated through the booking system, so places are not wasted. 

Making bookings

All bookings should be made through the online booking systems.

To book places for your Unit and pay the deposit, please use the link at the top of the page. This is a link to a site called Square. When initially booking and paying deposits, you do not need to enter the names of Explorers attending. Once you have signed up, Explorer24 will send you an email to the booking system in the coming weeks. Explorer Leaders can manage their booking through this system, allowing them to:

• Paying the remaining balance of £40 per Explorer for the event
• Adding Explorers’ personal details and contact details
• Explorers will be asked to complete more of their details, including medical information, contact details, dietary requirements and activity permission forms
• Amending places for the Unit

Pick up and drop off 

Due to limited parking and site access, staggered drop-off and pick-up times will be used to prevent queuing and keep the surrounding area safe. 

• Friday drop-off: 18:00–20:00
• Sunday pick-up: 10:30–12:30

When adding participants to the booking system, you will be able to indicate your preferred times. We will do our best to accommodate these and will confirm your allocated slots closer to the event. 

Night Away Notification (NAN)

Event Leaders will complete and submit the NAN form for all attendees, so Explorer Leaders do not need to submit their own NAN forms or event passports.

What to bring 

Explorers should bring: 

• Unit scarf/necker 
• Sleeping bag and roll mat 
• Tent (shared within your group) 
• Warm clothing and waterproofs 
• Torch or headtorch 
• Reusable water bottle 
• Plate, bowl, mug and cutlery 
• Personal medication (if required) 
• Fancy dress (theme will be announced)
