Role outline
To promote the Explorer Belt Award across the County and be the primary point of contact for queries regarding the Explorer Belt (EB) in the County. To be the arbiter of standards for achieving the Belt. The role sits in the Programme Team, and you will be line-managed by the Deputy CLV.
Responsibilities
- To advise on the process of achieving the award; review, amend as necessary, and approve Explorer Belt proposals.
- To approve the appointment of County EB mentors for teams.
- To be the conduit that passes on relevant up-to-date information to Programme Leads, 14-24 Leads, mentors and participants across the County by e-mail and via the County Bulletin in order that knowledge remains current.
- To maintain links with the County International Lead and those who mentor and support EBs.
- To approve the major project and the minor projects.
- To ensure that the planning, execution (including the logbook, budgeting, travel, and completion of the major and all minor projects), debrief, presentation, and awarding of the EB are within the approved HQ guidelines.
- To maintain standards for the EB across the County for all EB expeditions.

Appointment Requirements
- Have satisfactory DBS Clearance
- Understand and accept The Scout Association’s policies
- Have a thorough understanding of the Scouts International and Explorer Belt policies and practice.
