Role Outline

To produce and distribute the monthly West Sussex Scouts Bulletin, keeping members informed about news, events, learning opportunities, announcements and county updates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the dedicated Bulletin mailbox and collect content submissions.
  • Review, proofread and make minor edits to articles and announcements.
  • Correct spelling, grammar and formatting where required.
  • Crop, resize and optimise images for publication.
  • Compile and format content within the Bulletin template.
  • Update the distribution list from the Scout Membership System before publication.
  • Publish and distribute (via MailChimp) the Bulletin on the last Thursday of each month.
  • Ensure all content received by the Sunday prior to publication is included, and where possible include late submissions in exceptional circumstances.

Skills and Experience

  • Good written communication and proofreading skills.
  • Comfortable using email and basic publishing or editing tools.
  • Good attention to detail and organisation.
  • Basic image editing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet monthly deadlines.

Time Commitment

Approximately 1-3 hours per month, primarily during the week leading up to publication.

Responsible to

Works as part of the Digital and Communications Team, reports to the West Sussex Scouts Support Team lead and works with contributors from across the County.
