Take the Challenge! Join The Adventure!

Scouting offers challenge and adventure to 400,000 young people and 100,000 adults across the UK. We believe in helping our Members fulfil their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves. We give people of every background the chance to stretch themselves, learn new skills and make life long friends.

"Without a doubt the County is buzzing and the leaders are as busy as ever".
Newsletter 2, July has been published and here is the introduction from John Spickett, County Commissioner:

Hi Everyone
May I thank all of the Districts who have had their AGMs for the hospitality and welcome members of the County Team have been given. Without a doubt the County is buzzing and the leaders are as busy as ever.
We have had very successful patrol leader’s weekend, cub scout challenge and one of the largest Chief Scout Award presentations on record with over 40 gold and platinum awards being presented.
Andrea Bailey as County Recruitment and Development Office has now been in place for just over a month and we welcome her. The County Projects Panel will be looking at the suitable projects put forward by the District Champions for Andrea to tackle, so please help us to support you, by forwarding your projects for consideration via your champions.
WS is just a few weeks away lets look forward to the camping which is an important part of scouting, whether you will be joining us all at WS or camping with your groups or districts. Enjoy the experience and have fun.

West Sussex

If you enjoy challenge and responsibility read on ...

Young people are our future and The Scout Association plays a vital role in developing them for adult life. The Association has developed a vision and strategy  to take Scouting forward to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
The appointment of a Local Development Officer by West Sussex Scout County is an important element in taking that vision forward in this part of the country. Our vision is to bring Scouting to more young people in our area.

 Conventions used on this site

This site, in common with many other web sites regualrly gets hit by a number of automated 'robots' or 'bots' as they are commonly known. Some are good - e.g. search engines that establish a listing in Google or Yahoo, but many of them are bad for a variety of reasons. Steps have been taken to minimise the bad effects, including changing some email addresses to include the word 'at' instead of the symbol @ and similarly the word 'dot' instead of the fullstop (.) in web addresses. Guidelines issued by the Scout Association are used as guidelines for this website particularly in the area of 'Young People First'
